Yes, I live right next to a beach, if you're wondering what beach, it's Ladder Beach. This means that every morning I wake up I hear the waves crashing against the sand, I smell the salt water, and I get to enjoy the beautiful sight of the ocean, as I watch the sun rise. Sometimes I go swimming with my friends and family after school.
Note: If you look toward the horizon, you could see part of Tinian, though it must be raining in Tinian, that's why the picture isn't really clear.

Ancient Chamorro Society
I have been trying to find a word that can best describe my ancestors, and I have just realized that their isn't any. I don't know anyone else who can manage to survive through thick and thin, on an island, like the way my ancestors have. My general purpose is to inform the world about the people that God created with the toughest and most expensive material, they go by the name of Ancient Chamorros. The ancient Chamorro culture is that they must compromise their beliefs and social forms, the Chamorro language, their customs, and all the things made & used by the Chamorros. The Ancient Chamorros were described as tall, large, and handsome people. They were said to be very strong compared to the Spaniards. They were said to live long lives. They wore little/no clothing. Both men & women wore various items of jewelry.
The Chamorros developed a unique language. They spoke an old Austronesian language. When they arrived in the Marianas they began to create new words. The Chamorro language continued to develop, and today is much different from the old Austronesian language. Tools used for preparing food included mortars, pestles, scrapers, pounders, and pottery jars. They used human bones for spears. They performed every task they needed, with the required tools they invented. They made fishing hooks from shells and human bones. The Chamorros build their homes from mainly wood and thatch. At a later period some Chamorros built latte-stones to make houses. For construction and other tasks they made adzes, axes, awls and rope.Their social structure consists of three distinct caste of people. The upper caste were called Matua. The middle caste was called Atcha’ot. The lowest caste was called Manachang. Chamorro clans were matrilineal. Women had a very high rank in the community. Woman ran the household and controlled all the property in the family. If a women separated from her husband she took with her the children and all the household belongings. Chamorros didn't have a specific religion, though they believed that a person’s spirit lived on after death they’re called mananiti.Chamorros would keep the skull or the bones of a dead relative in their house and care for it. Their diet was made up of foods that they gathered or grew. The ocean provided much of their food. There were also wild fruits and vegetables in the jungle. They also planted crops. For transportation the Chamorros created fast sailing canoes called proas. A large canoe was used for traveling between islands. A medium sized canoe was used for fishing outside the reef. A small sized canoe was used for inside the reef.

Downfall of the Economy & How the Power Affects my Family
Saipan is my home, but Saipan isn't Home Sweet Home to me, right now it's the last place I want to be at. Saipan used to be the tropical paradise where tourists could relax on the beach and enjoy the blazing sunset in "peace". Saipan was a place where an abundance of tourists would visit, to witness the beautiful sights like Bonzai Cliff, and the under water paradise known as the Grotto. Though this all changed, because of how much of a tragedy the economy is. Ever since the economy became a downfall, we have locals robbing tourists that visit the island. An example is how a tourist and his wife got robbed while they were enjoying the sights of Bonzai Cliff. This makes other tourists scared to visit the island. There are probably more boonie dogs in the island than the number of tourists arriving. Tourism has been decreasing lately, and when it does it impacts the economy in a bad way. Another reason that causes the economy's downfall, is Capital Flight. The reason for this is because CUC can't even keep the power on. An example is how Hollywood Theaters closed down recently, luckily fate was so kind that Hollywood would reopen this coming Friday, May 23.
Tragedy and misery are two words that describe how the power outages affect my family. Tragedy is the first reason because instead of buying things we actually want, me and my family have to be buying either batteries for lanterns and flashlights or candles. Not just for one day, but almost every week, because who knows when CUC is going to shut off the power again. No matter how bad I want to do my assignments it's difficult when the power turns off, because not only is it hard to see, but also I don't have any Internet access. This leads to affecting my grades, by causing me to fail or either my assignments are incomplete. The second reason is misery, because me and my family have to suffer not getting enough sleep because we have to placate are little siblings all night, to stop whining because of the heat that causes them to shed tears and sweat. Me and my elders have endured having to hear the annoying sounds of are neighbor's baby, whining all night. Though despite the fact that my family doesn't get enough sleep, they still wake up early every morning just to go to work, so that they can put food on the table.

Tips for incoming Freshmen
I've been in Saipan Southern High School for almost one year already, so I know the ropes pretty much. The following paragraphs will give you some information about what to do and what not to do.
If you were the kind of student that was slacking off during Junior High then probably you might have a hard time in High School. Otherwise I suggest you get your head straight and get in the game. Never slack off in High School, because the college you plan to go to will look over your grades from High School and evaluate whether you're qualified to enroll into that college.
This isn't the only reason why you shouldn't slack off in High School. Another reason is there are a lot of assignments, home works, and projects. Which means no more chatting with friends, goofing around, and sitting on your ass doing nothing. In High School students are going to have to start taking life seriously. Which means that students have to be more responsible.
If you're a betel nut chewer, I suggest you try to quit. It will be tempting you to bring betel nut, lime, or cigarette to school, and the only thing this will cause you is suspension. Speaking of suspension, never get into a fight, because fights also lead to suspension. Not just any suspension, but a 10 day suspension. This will cause you to lose all your credits from the wrest of the quarter.
Sorry, I know it's sad, but only seniors are allowed to go out of campus for lunch. If you aren't a senior, and you were caught out of campus for any reason what so ever, you'll get suspended. So be cool, stay in school, and don't drool, because now you know the rules!

Most Surprising/Interesting Facts
The facts that I found most interesting or surprising while conducting my research, was some of the reasons for the fall of Rome, for example the introduction of Christianity, I never knew this was one of the resons for the fall of Rome, but it was because it made many Romans turn into pacifists making it hard to defend against the Barbarian attackers. Another interesting fact about some of the reasons for the fall of Rome is the decline in morals and values, those morals and values that kept together the Roman legions and thus the empire could not be maintained towards the end of the empire. Crimes of violence made the streets of the larger cities unsafe. Even during PaxRomana there were 32,000 prostitutes in Rome. Emperors like Nero and Caligula became infamous for wasting money on lavish parties where guests ate and drank until they became ill.
A surprising fact that I found was the fact that the overrall national deficit for the U.S. is $ 9.5 trillion about $31,000 per U.S. resident. The United States has had public debt since its inception. Debts incurred during the American Revolutionary War and under the Articles of Confederation led to the first yearly reported value of $75,463,476.52 on January, 1791. Over the following 45 years, the debt grew, briefly contracted to zero on January , 1835 under President Andrew Jackson but then quickly grew into the millions again. Those are the fact that I found Interesting and surprising while I was conducting my research.http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/
